Social events

The summer golf season is drawing to a close in the next few weeks, but don't worry the social events are on all year-round. if you haven't been able to attend any of the events this year, then maybe give one of the following three events a try...

Next up on Saturday 21st September, we have the Dual-Band Night. Now if you're into the Stone Roses, Oasis, The Killers, Kings Of Leon, The Courteeners and many more, then this is not to be missed. starting at 18:30 with two bands and food included for just £15pp, this is an absolute bargain!

if that's not your cup of tea, but you like to have a flutter on roulette and blackjack, then maybe the Annual Dinner Vegas themed night might be the one for you. The night will be a throwback evening with smart dress code or fancy dress if you prefer, we have a great Tom Jones tribute act, table magicians, fabulous room décor, casino tables, DJ, photo booth, champagne reception and a three-course meal for just £35pp on Saturday 2nd November.

Last but not least, you may be already thinking about NYE, if this is the case and you like to plan in advance, its £30pp and includes a great all-round party singer with covers from all era's and previous four decades, serviced buffet, casual dress code, photo booth, DJ and champagne reception.

Tour news

The race for The Masters

Rory McIlroy has 15 million reasons to smile this week after winning the Tour Championship for the second time in his career - a record he now shares with a certain Mr Tiger Woods - and scooping a cool $15 million prize as a result.

The Northern Irishman carded a final-round 66 to finish the week on 18-under-par, four shots clear of Xander Schauffele in second and five clear of playing partner Brooks Koepka.

It was that Sunday pairing of McIlroy and Koepka that caught the eye as the two most dominant players on Tour this year went toe-to-toe in a Ryder Cup style battle. The duo are now ranked 1st and 2nd in the World Rankings, with Koepka occupying top spot as he has for most of 2019.

Between them, they have won eight majors (four each) but remarkably neither has claimed The Masters. Whilst it may seem a long way away, you can be sure the target for both these players in 2020 will be to make sure they don the Green Jacket at Augusta next spring.

Flop shot required

Type ‘flop shot’ into Google and Phil Mickelson’s name will be at the top of the search. The five-time Major champion is the go-to guy when it comes to shots around the green, especially the flop shot. So, if you want to follow suit and impress your golfing partners, here’s our guide to this magical shot.

Technique

The first thing you must do is accelerate through the ball and stay aggressive. It's when we get a little scared or take our eye off the ball that things start to go wrong, all of which we can explain during a short game lesson.

Wedge

Your wedge plays a vital role with worn grooves and incorrect bounce leaving you at risk of a bladed shot through the green. Nightmare!

Spotlight | Titleist TS hybrids

TS2 or TS3?

You will probably recognise these names from the new drivers that Titleist released last year. Well, they've carried on their pursuit of speed and have conjured up these two beauties as a result.

Both offer extreme yet controllable distances, along with more forgiveness when compared to previous Titleist hybrids.

The TS2 has a larger head and is arguably easier to hit, whilst the TS3 comes with the SureFit CG for ball flight control.
